Riebeek-West is situated only 4km from Riebeek-Kasteel on the R311 and together they form the Riebeek Valley. Both the wine cellars and the olive oil producers welcome visitors who are encouraged to taste wine, olives and, for the more adventurous, the olive oil. During the olive harvesting season guided tours of the olive oil presses can be arranged.

Riebeek-West, like Riebeek-Kasteel, used to be a district of the Swartland congregation of the Dutch Reformed Church at Malmesbury, but later became independent. Riebeek-West is noted for the fact that two of South Africa's major political figures were born here. General Smuts was born on the farm Bovenplaas in 1870 and Dr DF Malan on the farm Allesverloren. The valley allows you to indulge in the fantastic food and wine which is on offer and try one of several relaxing walks, mountain bike trails or even 4x4 trips for the more venturesome!
