This picturesque little town of Doringbaai is situated about 8 km from Strand-fontein. The crayfish factory and jetty create a picture which remains in one's memory, and the attractive lighthouse serves as a beacon for both fishermen and tourists. Before the town was established, the bay was used as an anchorage on the sea trading route. Provisions off-loaded from the boats were transported to Vanrhynsdorp by camels.

a panorama that is priceless. Strandfontein is essentially a vacation and retirement resort. It is very close to the mouth of the Olifants River. It is an ideal place for an overnight stay for the tourist seeking a peaceful night close to the sea.
