AURORA

Aurora - "The dawning of the new day".
Should you spend some time here, evey dawn brings with it a feeling of peace and tranquility. A beautiful area with abundant birdlife (listen to the Bokmakierie); and brilliant displays of Spring flowers in August/September, even within the environs of the town. The first geodetic (triangulated) survey was carried out in 1751 by the Abbe' de La Caille between Strand Street, in Cape Town, and on the mountain at Riebeek West and an outbuilding on the farm Klipfontein a few hundred metres outside of Aurora. This has been declared a National Monument.
